A detailed harvesting, silviculture and access plan is provided to the Township prior to the commencement of operations, however the plans include the following provisions and considerations:

 

• Harvesting will be carried out using a cut-to-length system that minimized impact on soil, avoids the creation of slash piles and contributes to the natural regeneration of conifer since cones are left on site.

 

• Schedule of harvest and hauling with be developed through discussion with Township staff and Council to minimize impact on municipal roads and other potential concerns

 

• Harvesting standards will meet or exceed standards that are currently in place on Crown Lands in Ontario

 

• Renewal of the forest will be achieved in an appropriate manner based on the composition of the existing forest and site specific considerations.
